Numbers Count

Numbers Count is a programme that improves children’s mathematical skills. It is a part of the national Every Child Counts programme.

Children who are selected for a place on the programme receive intensive 1:1 or very small group support from a specially trained Numbers Count teacher for 30 minutes 3 days a week, while continuing daily mathematics lessons with their class. The teacher will aim to accelerate learning so that the children can work much closer to the level of their class.

The learning takes place in a special Numbers Count area. It is highly interactive and practical, with access to a range of games and stimulating resources. The children are encouraged to develop mathematical vocabulary and to talk about how they do mathematics.
